I created this artifact to emphasize the importance of using writing conferences with ESL students. My articles discuss that by conducting conferences with ESL students, teachers can help create positive long term effects in students' writing. During a writing conference it is imperative that a teacher set high expectations for each student, and identify the area(s) which need the most focus. By identifying students' needs and asking a series of open ended questions, teachers can begin to work through their students second language fears and collaboratively work towards improving their students writing skills.
